…Safe shelter
Safe, confidential shelter for Washington and Greene County domestic violence victims and their children.

…24 hour hotline
Washington and Greene County callers can reach the Shelter 24 hours a day at 724-223-9190 or 1-800-791-4000.

…24 hour transportation and intake
Domestic violence victims and their children may be transported to the Shelter for intake on a 24 hour basis.

…Women’s community support groups
Community support groups are offered in both Washington and Greene Counties for women who are directly or indirectly involved in abusive situations.  In Washington County call 724-223-9190 and in Greene County call 724-852-2373.

…Counseling and support group for residents
Empowerment counseling is offered individually as well as to groups.   The group will listen, empathize, and offer support in addition to information and referrals.

…Information and referrals
Among other things, information on agencies, police, the legal system, methods of self-protection, and self-help are provided.

…Advocacy
Staff and volunteers advocate for clients within the various systems in which they are involved.

…Accompaniment
Staff and volunteers accompany clients to hearings, appointments, etc. as requested.

…Children’s program
Daily children’s program for children residing in the Shelter and Fresh Start Transitional Housing program.  One-on-one and group counseling through structured activities by a children’s advocate is offered.

…Community education and training programs
Domestic violence information and prevention programs are offered to community organizations, businesses, agencies and systems that deal with victims of domestic violence.

…Domestic violence prevention projects in schools
Area middle and high schools participate in dating violence presentations and local elementary schools participate in Healthy Choices and Hands are Not for Hurting programs.

…Transitional housing
New this year is our transitional housing program for domestic violence victims with children.  The program is called Fresh Start.  A total of six families will be able to participate at any one time for a period of 12 to 15 months.

…Legal advocacy program
Extensive legal advocacy services are provided to domestic violence victims.  In addition to counseling, legal advocates inform victims about possible legal remedies, including Protection From Abuse Orders.  Advocacy and assistance are offered to victims throughout the PFA process.

…Food, clothing & personal care items for residents
Food, clothing and personal care items for residents are offered to adult Shelter residents and their children as needed during their stay.
